Madras checks began as everyday cloth woven in south india for workers, traders, and those who needed something light, breathable, and affordable in the heat... it wasn’t made to impress; it was made to live in. The colours came from simple dyes, vegetable mostly! and the checks from practical weaving, and the beauty was always in its honesty: fabric that faded, softened, and carried the marks of real life. Over time, what was once seen as humble travelled across oceans and into wardrobes everywhere, but its soul never changed ;-)
